LONG-RANGE FORECASTS

Zone #3: THE PRAIRIE PROVINCES OF CANADA, THE NORTHERN U.S.
GREAT PLAINS AND THE MIDWEST CORN AND SOYBEAN BELT

With the recent demise of the La Nina sea-surface temperature event, the northern and central portions of the Great Plains and Upper Midwest should be turning drier and warmer than normal later in the spring and summer period of 2023. Much hotter than noraml conditions may be seen in the western sections of the Great Plains in the late spring and early summer. Despite the drier than normal weather, we may see periods of severe conditions develop from mid-April through the early June period. The upcoming fall should see the return of normal precipitation.
